Huge, and Happy as a Hippo

In the last several weeks I have received multiple comments about how big I am getting and an overall concern for my health. I would like everyone to know I am doing just fine.

Many people thought I was huge with Hanna Marie and she was a big baby for someone my size but I remained healthy throughout the pregnancy and I gained less weight than is average during pregnancy. Afterwards I recovered very quickly. I was back in my skinny jeans by 9 weeks postpartum and even scored a 96 out of 100 on my very first Air Force physical fitness test back from maternity leave - including receiving max points for my waist size.

But if I was huge with one baby what do you think is going to happen with two babies growing inside of someone who is only 4'11 and normally 110 lbs? But rest assured I have still gained less weight so far than what is average for a twin pregnancy, I have not been put on bedrest, all of my tests and screenings have been normal, the babies are healthy and growing normally, and I feel nothing more than the normal wear of a pregnant women chasing around a very happy toddler.

Overall pregnant or not I am an extremely healthy and fit person, probably more than most of you. If any of you still feel concerned or wish to continue commenting on my size or health I challenge you to run the Cold Turkey Run with me on November 24th or even better join my 2012 Ragnar team and we'll see who fares better.

Sad, sad news my friends. I missed out on free U2 concert tickets this week because I don't check my military email account often enough! U2 people! U2! That would have been so awesome. Of course I wouldn't have been able to go anyway because I am in VA right now but I think I know a certain mother I could have made extremely happy with such tickets.

23 Weeks

Eric and I are expecting another girl! . . . AND a boy too!! Yep twins! We're expecting the Luke and Liea to make the debut some time in August. Hanna Marie will also reach her 18 month milestone in August. Three kids that young is definitely going to be a challenge but we are super excited.

I've decided that I have too many wants. I seriously think that I could spend $5000 in one day on nothing real big. Top of my list right now:

New kitchen table (this I will actually need with in the next year)
Slide or climbing toy for Hanna
Toddler chair for Hanna

And a bunch of little things for my house, new garbage can, shower curtains, bed sheets, towels, and coat hooks.

That is just the top I'm sure I could find at least 20 more things off the top of my head that I want before I even get to clothes. Clothes would be a lengthy list on its own.

Now I am just going to sit here and wait to get struck down for my pride.

Hanna looked sooooo cute today. Her hair is getting so long now. I pulled the front into a little twist on the side and then brought the end into a ponytail in the back with the rest of her hair. And I put her in brand new clothes with little white leggings. So stinking cute. . . Too bad it didn't last. While I was doing my own hair Hanna found my vaseline and spread big fists fulls all over her hair, her clothes, and the floor.

We were able to save her clothes but we have tried every suggestion from my mom and the Internet and her hair is still one big grease ball! Little stinker!

Master Procrastinator

Oh my goodness, why oh why do I procrastinate so much? I never learn. I pounded out three papers and an exam today to finish my online class on time. And that was on top of having all of my family up here for Hanna Marie's 1st birthday party today for which of course I felt the need to make homemade banners for which I also finished today. Nobody wake me up until Monday . . . groan, I start a new class on Monday. Math, yuck.

Hanna Marie just turned one!

I can't believe how quickly the year has gone by and how much she has changed. When I look back at how much she has grown and learned I look at myself and think, 'gee what have I accomplished in a year?'
Since she was born Hanna has grown more than 9'' and gained almost 12 lbs. She has 10 teeth and enough hair for a ponytail or two. She is now crawling all over the place, standing on her own, and taking her first tentative steps (no more than 3 at a time). She says Hi, bye-bye, Mama, Dada, and Hanna. She also communicates well using over a dozen different ASL and home signs such as eat, drink, more, all done, cheerios, bath, lotion, baby, and Jesus. Its great! She doesn't have to fuss she just tells me if she is hungry or thirsty, when she wants to take a bath, when she is ready for bedtime lotion, when she wants her baby doll, asks for people by name, and responds to questions I ask her. She knows the actions to several nursery rhymes and songs, including but not limited to, Popcorn Popping, Mr. Alligator, and If you're Happy and you know it. She loves watching Wiggles, Dora, and sports (she even throws her arms up for touch down!). She loves books, playing with Daddy, being held by Mommy, and cuddling with her stuffed animals (especially bunny). She loves showing off her room and toys to new people and smiling at everyone she sees.

For being unemployed I sure have had a lot of design projects lately. In December I designed Christmas cards for my mom and for a friend. In January I designed my sisters wedding invitations. This month I created Hanna's first Valentine and still need to work on her birthday announcements/invitations, my sister's resume and her wedding pictures, my brother's logo and business cards, and coming up more wedding invitations.

It's good practice though. I really should get this stuff on my website but right now it is just a mess that I'm not sure how I want to fix.

Hanna Marie is going to be one this week! She is so big. And those of you who know me from my past life are not going to believe it but I have started to turn into, and actually want to be, one of those spoiled stay-at-home, crafty, Molly Mormon moms. Which means Hanna's first birthday party will only be perfect if I can get all of these super cute homemade decorations done.

It was so nice to be outside with Hanna Marie the last three days. We went to the park and played on the slide and today we sat in the backyard and watched the wind blow things around, she loves the wind. I'm so ready for summer. I love winter but by February I'm so ready for it to be warm again. Of course, now that there is actually snow again . . . it is beautiful.

Babysat little Annie today, absolutely adorable. She is a year and half old and she knows all of her colors including the difference between blue and turquoise, I know she can count to at least 3, and her vocabulary is amazing for her age. When I asked her where mom and dad were she said 'date'.

Picked up my cpap today. Not really thrilled about wearing it but really interested to see what it is like to sleep.

I hate homework. I can't even explain to you how much I hate homework and I have so much of it over the next two weeks.

I hate laundry. Good thing my pack-in-play was up today, it makes a great basket for all the unfolded clothes that were on my bed.

And incase anyone was wondering satin/silk sheets and bedspread is not a good idea. My pillow will not stay in one place.

Sleep Study!

mSo the most exciting thing of my life happened yesterday . . . ok maybe not the most exciting thing, but pretty dang close. I had a sleep study done!!! Yay! For those of you who know me, or know my parents and know that I am their child, know that we really have sleep issues in our family and this is way overdue. I went into the Sleep Disorder Center and Logan Regional Hospital and they hooked me up to a bunch of stuff, I mean a ton. I felt like a science experiment. I had 25 electrodes on my head, a bunch along my jaw, one by each eye, two on my chest, one on my back, two on each leg, a band around my chest and one around my stomach, two different oxygen censors in my nose, and a pulse monitor on my finger. No wonder people who go in there can't sleep. I did finally fall asleep though, for about 4 hours, not straight, like 4 hours total, so not bad. I'll get the results back in a week to a week and a half. I'm really hoping the tell me that I have Restless Leg Syndrome because that would explain my leg pain too and I would just have to take a pill. If they tell me that I have sleep apnea and I have to wear an oxygen mask to bed every night well then I'll just sleep when I die because I really don't think I could stand that. If it is neither of those thing and they can't figure out what is wrong with me based on the sleep study then the next step is to go see a neurologist.

4 Months Old!

Hanna Marie was four months old on June 18th. She had her four month doctor's appointment last Monday. Dr. Ovary said she was beautiful and doing great. She weighs 14 lbs. 6 oz and is 25 1/2 inches tall. I'm only 59'' tall so I'm pretty sure she'll be taller than me by the time she starts grammar school. Dr. Ovary also said we could start her on solids so we went and bought some bowls and little tiny spoons and Sunday we tried rice cereal . . . she didn't have much of a reaction. She didn't swallow it but she didn't act like she hated it either, she just pushed it out with her tongue. She liked the spoon though, thought it was a great toy.

I'm so glad that the weather is finally nice! We love to be outside. Baby Hanna has already discovered how much fun it is to pull up the grass. And yesterday we introduced her to leaves. We gave her a leaf which she had fun holding and feeling for a minute before tearing it to pieces.

This past weekend I visited Kaysville cemetery to place flowers on my Grandma's grave for her birthday today. While I was there I also placed flowers in the vase at her parent's grave. I never knew them but I've visited their graves with my grandma all my life. There were still flowers there from Memorial Day so the graves really looked beautiful. I miss my grandma so much. I still think of her all the time.

Can anyone tell of the story of Hannah from the scriptures? Since I named my little girl Hanna I haven't come across a single person who can tell me the story of this great women. The first person everyone thinks of is Hannah Montana, even the missionaries. So aside from my mom who taught me the scriptures and those who were in my Sunday School class last week, can anyone tell me the story of Hannah? Without cheating! Even Eric had to google it.

Today Baby Hanna and I read Tigger is Unbouncded. Baby Hanna loves books. It's so much fun. I really didn't think she could show any kind of interest at such a young age but she does. She'll get all excited and move her arms all around when I start a book, then she stares at the pages so intently. She has started to reach out to the edges of the books too, like she wants to hold them.
Today's story was from our new collection of Winnie the Pooh books. Hanna Marie only had 3 books to start out but a couple weeks ago Jensen's Wholesale Books here in Logan had a used book sale. They had a stuff a bag deal, as many books as you could fit in a bag for only $7. We went on the last day of the sale so they were pretty picked over but we still got 30 books! Including 8 Winnie the Pooh books and 5 or so additional Disney books. We also found Dora the Explorer, Curious George, Sesame Street, and The Night Before Christmas!

Our book hunting day turned out to be a lot of fun. That same day the Applegates called and invited us to go to Willow Park Zoo with them. We had never been before. It was so much fun. It was only $1 to get in and they had monkeys, bobcats, and all sorts of fun birds. Hanna seemed more interested in the trees than the animals but little Annie sure enjoyed it and it was nice just to get out.

We've had a lot of fun with the Applegates lately. Just the week before the Zoo we celebrated Annie and Kade's birthdays.

It's been so fun for Hanna to have a friend. Little Annie loves to touch 'the baby' and give her loves. And Hanna loves to smile at Annie. We love just hanging out at Annie's house.

Grateful for Aggie Village

I live in Aggie Village, a tiny student apartment on campus. My friends complain, I've complained about them and we make fun of them but really I love my apartment mostly because it is mine, my home and I really am grateful to be here.

Aggie Village isn't perfect but it is the longest I've lived in one place for nearly 20 years, it's the most comfortable I've felt in a home in 13 years, the most love I've felt in a ward in 8 years, and I've made the best friends here that I've had ever.

I can't even describe to you the nastiness of the apartment I lived in before AV when I first moved to Logan. And before that I lived with my all too gracious Aunt and Uncle in Draper and though I loved it there I over stayed my welcome and it never really was home. Before that was the last time I lived with my mom. She and I and my brother and sister lived in my grandparent's basement. The four of us shared a 1/2 bathroom smaller than the one here in AV. The washer and dryer set up here might not be ideal but there our washer and dryer were in my mom's small bedroom. We did have a nice big laundry room in one place that we lived but my brother slept in there on a cot, he didn't have a room. I've lived with concrete walls before too, at least these ones don't have mold on them. And the floors at AV do bother me but it's better than 30 year old green shag carpet. The AV kitchens are small, but I've had a hallway kitchen before were we couldn't open the refrigerator and oven at the same time. And I've lived without a dishwasher before. I hate parking my car outside but my family has only had a garage we could actually park our car in for 3 out of the last 20 years. AV may be small but it is clean, the appliances are new, and the neighborhood is safe, all things I've learned the value of.

I am grateful for a big porch where I can enjoy the sun, I'm grateful that I have cable and Internet, I'm grateful I have a place to take a bubble bath, I'm grateful I can hang pictures on my walls (I grew up in apts were we couldn't do that), I'm grateful I have a place to store my own food, I'm grateful I have food, I'm grateful that I have a warm bed, and that my baby has a safe roof over her head.

We are hoping to move this summer but only because my sister is coming to live with us when she gets off her mission (she has no where else to go, my mom doesn't have a home and my dad's is too small). If we get into the place we are hoping for it will be the first time in my life that I will have a garage, a laundry room, a kitchen, a dishwasher, air conditioning, an enclosed backyard, more than one bathroom, and a regular mailbox (not a gang box like you have at apts) all at the same time. I don't know what I'll do with myself.

And if after reading this you still can't think of a reason to be grateful for you home or apartment think of all the people in Haiti, Chile, and China who just lost their homes to earthquakes, or of all the people back East who lost their homes to floods, or the 1.2 million families in the U.S. that lost their homes to the recession, or the homeless in general, or those in third world countries where the people that do have homes still live in conditions I couldn't even imagine until I saw it for myself. But you don't even have to go that far to get a taste of poverty we have plenty of it all over our own nation.

So I had drill this weekend and guess what . . . They let me drive a bus! A big blue bus, with people on it, on trafficked roads. I know right? Those of you who know me know this probably wasn't the brightest idea on their part. My supervisor told me I had to learn to drive the passenger bus so I can drive poor unsuspecting troops around the base and on the flight line (around big expensive airplanes). So today a bunch of people from my section voluntarily came along to be my passengers and witness the chaos.

Little old me driving a big old bus, I had to slide the seat all the way forward and could barely be seen over the ginormous steering wheel. But really it wasn't that bad. I gave everyone a taste of the seat in front of them the first time I hit the brakes and on my first right hand turn I ran over the curb and nearly took out the stop sign. I doubled back to try again and when I cleared it my passengers applauded. I continued driving for another half an hour without further incident. Sadly no one got a picture of the event.

So the poll for baby names was fun but it didn't really factor into our decision. I think I still like Mauree Lyne the best, I feel like the others are too common but when it came down to it I never really could make up my mind and Eric liked Hanna and seemed very confident about it so we went with Hanna Marie. But if one more person calls her Hannah Montana or lists all of the Hannas they know I might go crazy. I might also go crazy if anyone out there compares my perfect little baby to any other babies born last week, especially if they live within a close proximity.

Wohoo!!! We have now reached the 10 day window of the due date (before or after) when 80% of babies are born! Only 8% of babies are actually born on their due date and the rest come earlier or later than that 10 days. So there is an 88% chance that baby will be here ANY TIME within the next 20 days! Yay!

I really feel fine, I'm not that uncomfortable, and I'm real in no hurry, I don't want to rush her. She'll come when she's ready. It is just another milestone we have reached. It is crazy to think that this pregnancy is already over and she could be here any day, it is a little nerve racking. But I will be so excited to see my little girl when she does make her debut.

Christmas!!!

Christmas was awesome this year. This year was the first year that both Eric and I had Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas off so we got to spend a lot more time with our families this year. We went down to Salt Lake on the 23rd. That night we went and saw the lights at Temple Square with Eric's mom (Alie) and brothers. The 24th we had dinner at Mike (Eric's stepdad) and Alie's and stayed up until 1 AM laughing with Eric's step brother Corby and his cute wife Lindsay. Christmas morning we opened presents with Mike and Alie. It was fun, they got us some cool stuff for our home.

Christmas morning I also got to talk to my little sister Chaylyne who is serving a mission in Oakland California. Using three way calling we were able to get my dad, me, and my brother Steven all on the phone at the same time to talk to Chay even though we were all in different cities. It was so good to talk to my baby sister, it sounds like she is really happy and doing great.

Christmas day for lunch we went over to Steven and Helen's (Eric's dad and his wife). The best part was watching all of the little kids open their presents.

For Christmas dinner it was back to Mike and Alie's. All of Eric's brothers were there as well as all of Mikes kids, 8 families in all, 16 adults, and 8 kids 8 and under. It was a little crazy but a total blast.

My little brother Steven and his cute new wife Valerie came in town from Arizona late on the 26th so on Sunday the 27th we all got together for Christmas at my dad and Kim's house. We got totally spoiled. Eric and I got a bunch of baby stuff we needed as well as a few things for ourselves. They gave Eric a little remote control helicopter that he only stops playing with long enough to charge the battery. The best part was playing the Wii with the whole family. Kim got the new 4 player Mario game. Our little half brother Cody was a hoot to watch, he could stand still while playing and kept walking in front of everyone else he also didn't seem to understand when his character ran out of lives and always tried to keep playing.

The best part of Christmas for me was the 29th. Steven and Val came up to Logan and we were able to have our traditional family Christmas party. It wasn't quite the same because it wasn't on Christmas Eve and it was on a much smaller scale but it was still fun. We had all the usually food: potato soup, shrimp cocktail, cheese ball and crackers, veggie tray, and more. We also played games like the tray memory game with prizes and everything. We read the Christmas story and did our gift to Christ. The best part was that my Mom got on Skype and we were able to talk to her while we were all here together. She was so excited, it was the first time she had been able to talk to Steven or Valerie since they've been married.

And of course Eric spoiled me this year too, as always. He knew Christmas Eve would be hard for me with none of my family around this year but he tried really hard to keep my traditions alive and make me feel better. He hid a gift for me on our tree and gave me new Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve like my mom always does and read the Christmas story with me. He also gave me a super cute maternity jacket, a new Wii game, and some makeup. He even bought a gift for baby and let me open it, it was a cute little beanie and some onesies. What a great husband and he's going to be a great dad.

Only 7 1/2 weeks or abut 58 days until our baby is due! I'm so excited. Incredible nervous, but still very excited. I still feel like I have a ton to do between now and then that some days time just seems to be flying by but yet it can't get her fast enough. I am so anxious to hold my little girl.

Until then I am trying to finish up my last class at Stevens-Henager College, still, organize my home, and enjoy the little time Eric and I have left as just a couple. We've been able to go on a couple of fun dates, spend time together at home, and mostly just enjoy the peace and comfort of being alone together.

This Christmas will be our last Christmas alone and we are actually going to have time to enjoy it this year. I am so grateful for all of our blessings this Christmas season, Eric, our families, our baby, employment, our home, a chance to go to school, and most of all for the birth of our Savior. Yay! I made rank last month and sewed on Senior Airman (E-4)! I should be eligible for Staff Sergeant in another two years and then I can start working on getting commissioned, but for right now I'll just take it one stripe at a time.

Bad News

I was suppose to go to work yesterday and instead I got a call from one of my managers. I was told that Iggy's Logan had gone out of business as of Sunday night and I was out of a job.

The thing that really sucks is that my position at ICON was "dissolved" a week after I helped my boss turn in the budget. After that I couldn't find a job and that is why I went to Iggy's. Iggy's was my back up plan and now I've lost that. This is the second job in a row I have lost to this economy yet officials on Wall Street are trying to tell me that the recession is over.

So I don't really know what I am going to do now. I guess I will focus on getting more design work. If you know of anyone looking for a graphic designer please refer them to my website www.camaree.com. My specialty is photo touch up and photo restoration.

Fish Stories

I have been fishing since I was old enough to remember. We always went with my Dad, and we always seemed to go to great lengths to chase big fish. Well that chasing finally paid off (sorry you couldn't be there Dad). My friends and I went to Bear Lake to catch some lake trout while they are in spawning season. We got up there about seven in the morning, and about 15 minutes later this is what I reeled in.
I hope you enjoy the pictures just as much as I enjoyed holding (and later eating) this 8-10 lbs, 29 inch lake trout!

We ordered stuff for our nursery today!!!

We got this adorable Moses Basket for our newborn baby.

We found this super cute 10-piece nursery set for half the price of most 4-piece sets!

And of course the crib. We couldn't decide if we were going to get a crib right away or wait until she is old enough to actually need one but we found this 4-in-1 convertible crib for such a great price we couldn't pass it up.

Hm . . . now we just have to figure out where to put all this stuff.

Ok so Eric and I are obviously having a baby. To answer a few questions our little girl is due in February. I am feeling fine and we are very excited. We don't have names yet and wont until she comes, for now she is just baby girl. And no we haven't made any final decisions about work or moving. We are happy doing what we're doing where we are at but obviously we are not going to turn down any opportunities that may come along that will better our situation.

Eric's Year So Far...

As you have already read, Cam and I were apart for a few months, I say a “few” now that it is over, but those four months all seemed like they would never end…. luckily they did.

In January, I started my final undergraduate semester at USU. It was probably the hardest semester that I had while in college, not because of my 7:30 class that I had to take (the only one I ever had in college…grrr) but because Camaree was not there to keep me focused on all the things I had to get accomplished, I never knew how much she helped me until that help was gone.

Soon March came and I was able to go to San Antonio, Texas to see Camaree graduate (with Honors) from Basic Training. It was awesome to see her all in uniform, and be serving our country (my dream when I was younger was to fly for the military; one that would never come to pass because of my poor eye sight).

Once back in Utah, I pushed on through school, graduating in May, Summa Cum Laude, from Utah State University. I am the second person in my immediate family to graduate from college.

Though graduated, I have to finish some flight ratings in order to be officially finished. One of which was my Flight Instructor Certificate. I finished that at the end of July, and shortly after I found out that USU would be hiring flight instructors to teach the new freshmen pilots how to fly. Out of 17 applicants, I was one of 5 new flight instructors selected.

So far it has been a very rewarding year, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring….

Eric and I have had quite a bit going on this year so I've decided to write an update for each of us to catch everyone up.

January 6, 2009 I enter Basic Military Training as a member of the United States Air Force Reserve. I loved it and I did well. I was appointed Chapel Guide (I made sure religious needs were met for the females in my flight), put in charge of Remedial Physical Training (kicked the girls into shape), and then made Dorm Chief (responsible for my flight whenever the MTI wasn't around). I graduated in the top 8 for physical fitness from my coed class of 765. I also graduated in the top 10% overall to earn Honor Graduate.

Eric and my mom came to visit me in Texas for my BMT graduation on March 6. I was so glad to have my family with me and be able to share my achievements with them. At the end of the weekend sadly they went home and I went back to training.

The following Monday I started Technical Training School. Though it was hard to say goodbye to Eric again for another two months I continued to do well. I was immediately made a White Rope (Student assistant to the Chaplains Corp.). Within a week of starting classes I was chosen as the new Air Trans Leader (Student leader over all the students training for my career field). I maintained my physical fitness and remained the fastest female in the squadron from the day I got there until the day I left. And somehow, even though I couldn't stay awake in class, I managed to graduate Tech School with honors as well.

It was a hard four months to be away from home. Basic was easier than I expected, tech school was harder. I learned a lot about myself, some good, some bad, but all educational. Overall it was a good experience and I am pleased with my accomplishments and my decision to join the reserves.
